The 2008 Dome Restoration Project
In
2008, Spurling Painting and Re modeling engaged in a contract with New
Fellowship Baptist Church to repair the two Bell Towers in front of the
building and the main dome in the center. The damage suffered over the
years and the deterioration caused leaks into the upstairs level.
Missing window panes and rotten wood were some of the obvious signs.
Roger Spurling found an economical way to replace some of the damaged
materials with durable synthetic materials and a long-lasting sealing
compound. By repairing the damage and installing six new windows, we
reduced the heat loss in the winter time (giving us much more
comfortable temperatures and lower utility bills) and we also stopped
the water damage inside the church.
Thanks
to the generosity of our members and the support of many other donors
who sponsored our fundraisers and made significant contributions, the
three crosses now shine on Ash Street and the building is a more
comfortable sanctuary to worship the LORD.
As
the LORD leads us in 2009, the Building Committee will be organizing
another golf tournament and concerts to continue the restoration
process. Please continue to pray for us and support our next phase.
